Certificate of Technical Studies in Telecommunications, Radio

Objective:

The certificate is a thirty-hour curriculum emphasizing skills and knowledge essential for employment in radio production and on-air personality. The certificate includes training in speech, voice, and diction, newscasting, marketing, all of which use a variety of equipment to provide hands-on expertise.

General certificate requirement:

Students entering the program need a high school diploma or an equivalent certificate, such as the GED. Placement of participants in the various levels of the program, including advanced placement, will be determined by the ACT scores and examinations administered by BPCC. Certificate students must test out of READ 099, into ENGL 101, and into MATH 099 as documented by ACT, placement test, or course completion.
