Bossier Parish Community College is in compliance with this core requirement because the College has degree-granting
authority from the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) as well as the Louisiana Board of Regents,
which are the appropriate governing agencies. LCTCS was created to oversee "institutions of higher education which
offer associate degrees" by the Louisiana Constitution
Article VIII, Section 7.1(A). Additionally, the Louisiana
Revised Statute 17:1825 states in Paragraph B, subsection (1)(b): "Effective July 1, 1999, and thereafter, the Board
of Supervisors of Community and Technical Colleges shall succeed the Board of Trustees for State Colleges and Universities
as the supervising and managing board"; and the Louisiana
Revised Statute 17:3217.1 shows in paragraph A that the Louisiana Community and Technical College System's management
board exercises supervision and management over Bossier Parish Community College. Finally, Paragraph B of the Louisiana Revised Statutes 17:2050 shows that associate degrees and
certificates may be granted upon completion provided that appropriate approval has been given by the appropriate governing
board and the Board of Regents. |
