Bossier Parish Community College is in compliance with this core requirement because the College is in operation and
has students enrolled in degree programs. In 1966-67, a joint resolution of the Louisiana legislature created
Bossier Parish Community College as a pilot program. The purpose of the program was to determine a need for, and
feasibility of, establishing two-year commuter colleges throughout the state. The College held classes for the first
time during the fall of 1967 with 101 students and a faculty of five full-time and three part-time instructors.
Degree programs were approved and added as state and local needs arose. By fall 2005, the College had a total
enrollment of 4,845 students with fifteen degree programs, ten certificate/technical diplomas, and twenty technical
competency area programs. The College Factbook
lists the number of students enrolled in each of degree program. In addition, the
General Catalog contains the list of degree programs. |
