Bossier Parish Community College is in compliance with this comprehensive standard because the College places the responsibility for the content, quality, and effectiveness of program review and curriculum development and review with the program coordinator and academic division chair as indicated in the General Catalog 62. Bossier Parish Community College assigns faculty responsible for associate degree program advisement to individuals competent in the field. In addition, all faculty serve as academic advisors in their respective academic disciplines. The division chair, working with the program coordinator, is ultimately responsible for program coordination. Each associate degree (with the exception of the Associate of General Studies) and academic certificate has a program advisory committee whose members, representing business, industry, and the public at large, meets to make recommendations as to changes in program curricula. College Advisory Committee Minutes contain examples of program review and revision. The Associate of General Studies is primarily seen as a transfer program, the primary focus of which is not job preparatory requiring industry/work force input.
Program review at Bossier Parish Community College occurs on a five-year rotating basis, with the exception of allied health programs, which are reviewed annually. In this process, faculty and division chairs use portions of the review process to change curricula, if appropriate. The Academic Program review requires academic divisions to provide information on program review. Academic Program reviews give examples of ongoing review of the College's academic certificates and associate degrees.
The organizational structure at Bossier Parish Community College designates academic division chairs as the individuals with primary responsibility for program coordination and curriculum development and revision. The College has division chairs and program advisors/coordinators, all of whom have the academic qualifications to provide effective management of curriculum in their respective areas.
