Narrative:

Bossier Parish Community College is in compliance with this comprehensive standard because the College adheres to good educational practices. Appropriate educational policies are disseminated to students and faculty within the College's service area. The College uses a variety of publications to disseminate its mission, goals/objectives, policies, and procedures that indicate the College's compliance.

Academic regulations of the College adhere to good educational practices that foster academic excellence and state the College's expectation of quality. In the General Catalog 39-62, regulations regarding student responsibilities, grading, academic records, credit by exam, advanced placement, graduation requirements, general education, and degree/certificate requirements are published. To further ensure good educational practice, the College's Academic Misconduct policies are outlined in the General Catalog 65-69. Academic regulations and the College's educational policies and procedures are also contained in the Faculty Handbook 45-57. These policies address grading, attendance, academic standards, and faculty responsibilities. Bossier Parish Community College's instructional policies accurately reflect the programs and services of the institution. Additionally, the Student Handbook contains academic policies and procedures which apply to students. Regulations with respect to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) can be found in the Student Handbook.

Faculty rights and responsibilities direct faculty efforts in a manner consistent with good educational practice. Faculty expectations are detailed in the Faculty Handbook 34-39. All new faculty attend an orientation presented by the College Human Resources Department; each new faculty member is mentored by a veteran faculty member in his/her academic discipline.

The Bossier Parish Community College Student Code of Conduct states that students will participate in and contribute to an educational environment conducive to scholarly inquiry through expectations of honorable conduct. The Student Code of Conduct and supporting policies and procedures are contained in the General Catalog 63-67 and in the Student Handbook. The Code is also available to students on the Bossier Parish Community College website.

Bossier Parish Community College complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act and applicable state laws. Disability policies and services assure that College programs and services are available to all students and are published in the Student Handbook.

The College recognizes that electronic learning delivery systems must meet the same standards as courses delivered by traditional means. Bossier Parish Community College adheres to the Louisiana Community & Technical College System e-learning policies; SACS distance education policies; and the Southern Region Education Board "Principles of Good Practice." Information on these practices and policies are distributed during orientation for faculty teaching courses electronically. In addition, BPCC's criterion indicators for excellence in electronic delivery of courses are given to all faculty teaching such courses.

Bossier Parish Community College adheres to good educational practices which are disseminated throughout the College's service area by means of a variety of publications. Within both print and electronic media (through the College website), the College communicates accurate information about its programs and services to students, faculty, and other interested parties in the community.
