Student complaints may be addressed under the academic appeals or Academic Misconduct procedures located in various campus documents. Students may make non-academic appeals through different venues according to the nature of the complaint (e.g. discrimination, sexual assault, disciplinary violations). The On-Site Committee should verify sample discipline and grievance cases to ensure that policies are followed. |

In its original Compliance audit narrative for Federal Requirement 4.5, Bossier Parish Community College stated that it has adequate procedures for addressing written complaints and demonstrates it follows those procedures when resolving student nonacademic complaints. In addition, the College stated that such procedural compliance can be further verified through the information in locked case files in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. The Off-Site committee recommended that the On-Site Committee should verify sample discipline and grievance cases to ensure that policies are followed. Because these documents are FERPA protected, the documents are kept on file in a locked filing cabinet in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs in order to protect the privacy of the students who have filed written complaints. These documents are available for review by the On-Site Committee in order to ensure that Bossier Parish Community College does, in fact, follow procedures for addressing written student complaints. |
