
Objective:
To provide short term training for entry level positions in health care which will prepare students to perform noninvasive cardiology tests, EKGs, stress tests, Holter monitoring, and or arrhythmia recognition.
Specific requirements:
Students pursuing the Technical Competency Area in EKG/Telemetry Technician must first meet College admission requirements. The EKG/Telemetry Technician Program includes didactic, laboratory, and clinical courses. The clinical courses (ALHT 112 and ALHT 204) will be offered for a minimum of five (5) students and a maximum of fifteen (15) students per semester.
Students admitted to the EKG/Telemetry Technician Program must provide current health information (as listed on the General Training Information page) and maintain current health insurance. Upon selection and successful completion of the courses in the EKG/Telemetry Technician curriculum, the student will receive the Technical Competency Area in EKG/Telemetry.

All courses must be completed with at least grade of "C" in each class to be admitted to ALHT 204 and to receive the Technical Competency Area in EKG/Telemetry from BPCC. |

Students completing the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program at Bossier Parish Community College may take challenge exams for ALHT 109 and/or ZLGY 110. If students successfully complete the challenge exams, they will not be required to enroll in ALHT 109 and/or ZLGY 110 to earn the Technical Competency Area in EKG/Telemetry Technician.
