McDade House Page

A few notes about the McDade House:
PURPOSE:
Provides lodging and supportive companionship in a homelike environment
for outpatients and out of town relatives of seriously ill patients
in a Shreveport-Bossier City hospitals.
SERVICES PROVIDED:
Staff on duty daily from 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Kitchen and laundry
facilities. A telephone in each bedroom and free parking. Each bedroom
has two single beds and private bathroom. Household items, linens,
towels, and kitchen staples are provided.
ELIGIBILITY:
Must be referred by a hospital social service worker from 8:30 am.
- 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Must have a relative seriously-ill
or be an out-patient receiving daily treatment at a local hospital.
Must reside outside a 20 mile radius of the hospital. Must be 12 years
or older.
FUNDING:
A nightly donation of $25.00 per room (2) is requested. Since some
of our guests cannot afford the nightly cost of operation, please
ask your church or service organization to help with monetary or household
items. We do not receive federal, state or city funds.

The Mc Dade House
The Mc Dade House was established 16 years ago to help people that
had a loved one hospitalized and couldn't afford to stay in a hotel
or motel for long periods of time.
Here is a "NEEDS LIST" for The McDade House. Please try to give
from this list if possible.

NEEDS LIST:
FOOD AND HOUSEHOLD ITEMS
Fruit juice, fruit, coffee, cream, sugar, Sweet'N Low, covered-dish
suppers (to be frozen), canned goods and food items.
Paper products (toilet tissue, paper towels, kleenex, napkins, small
paper cups), bathroom cleaner, small bath soap, laundry detergent,
bleach, trash bags (13 & 30 gallon), lightbulbs (40 & 60 watt),
dishwasher detergent, air freshener, kitchen items (aluminum foil,
baggies, handi-wrap), fixing bowls, glasses, coffee mugs, pots &
pans twin sheets, towels, wash cloths (white), twin bedspreads (rose
or blue), postage stamps, office supplies.
MONETARY DONATIONS (tax deductible)
$25 will pay for one night stay.
$200 will buy laundry supplies or food staples for one month.
$150 will turn the lights on for one week.
$750 will pay for a family for one months stay.
$2,800 will allow us to offer lodging to a full house for a week.
