
Objective:
The program is arranged to take persons through a sequential plan of study to aid in satisfying the need of law enforcement in today's complex and changing democratic society.
General Degree Information:
Police work involves every age group, economic condition, and culture of the community it serves. The difficulty of police work and the complexity of modern society require more and more specialization and professionalism. Many law enforcement agencies offer career advances to the college-educated police professional.
The Criminal Justice program is aimed at meeting the needs of persons seeking employment or promotional advantages in police agencies concerned with the maintenance of public safety, the prevention of crime, and the reduction in the loss of lives and property from crime and its allied causes. The graduating student will receive a total of 60 hours of college credit for the required courses. Criminal Justice courses may count toward a baccalaureate degree at colleges and universities electing to accept the courses in transfer. This is a terminal program, and the Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice will be awarded.
