
Objective:
The program is designed for students contemplating employment in the field of medicolegal death investigation or within the investigating branch of a law enforcement agency. Courses in this program will prepare applicants for the Registry level examination in Medicolegal Death Investigation offered by the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators, Inc.
General Degree Information:
The Medicolegal Death Investigation concentration provides students an overview of the Criminal Justice system with a special emphasis on the medical and scientific aspects of death investigation. In this concentration, students will take Criminal Justice offerings providing them knowledge in investigations, law, court procedures, as well as courses in science and pathophysiology.
The Medicolegal Death Investigation course required in the concentration has been approved by the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators, Inc. to meet basic education and training requirements to prepare for taking the registry level exam. The course will also count for continuing education credits for both registered and board certified medicolegal death investigators. The Board is a national, independent professional certification board that has been established to promote the highest standards of practice for Medicolegal Death Investigators.
The Associate of Applied Science degree in Criminal Justice is a terminal program. Graduates will receive 60 hours college credit.
