International Requirements

International students must meet all the REGULAR ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS to Bossier Parish Community College. Students should have at least completed a program of study that would recommend them for admission to a university in their native country.  International applicants transferring from institutions in or out of the United States must have completed a recognized secondary program and meet admissions by transfer requirements.  All foreign credentials must be submitted in English to the Admissions/Registrar’s Office and must be submitted to the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers for an evaluation.  AACRAO evaluations must be sent directly to our Admissions/Registrar’s Office 60 days prior to the beginning of the semester when admission is desired.  Additional information concerning the evaluation process and the associated fees can be obtained online at www.aacrao.org/credential/individual.htm. A non-refundable application fee of $25 must accompany the application that is due 60 days prior to the start of the semester. In addition, international students must:

  1. Submit evidence that they are eligible to attend college in their own country.
  2. Furnish an official high school transcript or official college or university transcript(s) translated into the English language.
  3. Furnish a minimum score of 500 on the written Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or 173 on the computer-based test.
  4. Must provide shot records for two measles mumps and rubella shots over lifetime, proof of a current tetanus-diphtheria shot (within last 10 years), and proof of a meningitis shot.
  5. Official test scores are not required for admission (ACT/SAT), yet they may exempt students from having to take placement tests as well as certain developmental classes.
  6. Furnish a notarized statement of financial support that is adequate to meet expenses during their enrollment at BPCC ($15,000-$20,000 American dollars per year).

International applicants transferring from institutions in the United States must also meet the transfer requirements. Furthermore, students assume full responsibility for courses selected and are encouraged to seek guidance and approval of courses to be transferred. If complete documents are not on file by this deadline, the application will be considered for the next scheduled registration period. International students are not eligible for provisional admission.

When international students have been officially admitted to Bossier Parish Community College (satisfied all admission requirements), an I-20 is created in SEVIS, properly signed, and mailed to the student.  There is a SEVIS fee that students are responsible for paying.

Students assume full responsibility for courses selected and are encouraged to seek guidance and approval of courses to be transferred. A student who is under academic, attendance, or disciplinary suspension from another college or university must confer with the institution from which they have been suspended and BPCC before enrolling in classes. BPCC does not normally accept credits from colleges and universities which are not accredited.
