Borrowing/Circulation/Checking Out Items
Who can check out items from the BPCC Library? What is needed to checkout items?
Only current BPCC students, faculty and staff may checkout items from the Library using their BPCC ID. Community users may use the Library items in house or study in the Library.
How long can I check out items?
- Books (Fiction, Nonfiction, Biography, Short Story, and LA collection only):
- Students ........ 28 days
- Faculty/Staff ........ Semester
- Audio-visual Material
- CD-ROMs, DVDs, Videocassettes:
- Students ........ 3 days, may be renewed for an additional 3 days
- Faculty/Staff ........ 7 days
- Audiocassettes, Audio CDs (music and audio books):
- Students ........ 14 days
- Faculty/Staff ........ 14 days
- CD-ROMs, DVDs, Videocassettes:
- Reserve Material (for use in library only):
- All Library users ........ 2 hours, may be renewed for an additional 2 hours
What are the fines for overdue material?
- Books ........ $0.50 per day per book
- Reserve Materials ........ $0.25 per hour per item
- Audio-Visual Materials ........ $5.00 per day per item
All Library bills are paid at the Business Office, in Building F. The Library will print an overdue bill, and students will pay the bill at the Business Office.
Copiers
Is there a way for students to make copies in the Library?
The Library has two copiers, one on each floor, for students. Copies are $0.10 a page and require the use of a copy card. Copy cards are available for purchase at a cost of $0.50 per card and are reusable. Users may add additional money to their card.
Eating/Drinking/Cell Phones
Can I have a snack or use my cell phone in the Library?
All eating and drinking and cell phone use is prohibited in the Library.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
What can I do if the material I need is not owned by the BPCC Library?
The Library can place an Interlibrary Loan request to borrow the item(s) from another library. It takes about a week to receive materials borrowed from another library.
Laptops
Are laptop computers available for students in the library?
Laptops are available for students to use in the Library. They can be checked out at the Circulation desk on the first floor.

Library Account
The Library cannot tell me my fines or if I have overdue items over the phone. How do I review my Library Account for fines and/or overdue items?
Current BPCC students, faculty and staff may review their Library accountto view items currently checked out and/or fees due using the "My Account" feature of the Library’s online catalog.![]()
Login Information
How do I log into the databases from off campus?
Students:
User ID – 8 digit CWID
Password – 6 digit birth date
Faculty and Staff :
User ID – 8 digit CWID
Password – CHANGEME ( unless you have changed it in the online catalog)
What is my user id and password to place a hold in the online catalog?
The Login for review for placing a hold is the same as the login for the databases.
Students:
User ID – 8 digit CWID
Password – 6 digit birth date
Faculty and Staff :
User ID – 8 digit CWID
Password – CHANGEME ( unless you have changed it in the online catalog)
Lost and Found
Does the Library have a Lost and Found area?
The Library’s Lost and Found area is located at the Circulation Desk on the first floor.
Online Catalog
What can I find in the Online Catalog?
The Online Catalog
contains records for materials (books, DVDs, CDs, and magazine titles) owned by the BPCC Library. It can be searched from any computer connected to the Internet to find items to check out or use in the library.
Research Assistance
How do I get Research assistance?
Research assistance is available in the Library at the Reference desk during the Library’s hours of operation or by phone at 318-678-6275. Email assistance is available at refdesk@bpcc.edu.
Reserve
Can teachers request to have material put on Reserve in the Library?
Faculty may place items on Reserve by completing the Course Reserve Request form and bringing the items to the Circulation desk.
Technology Resource Center (TRC)
What are the hours for the TRC?
The TRC is open the following hours during the Fall and Spring Semesters:

Do I need by BPCC ID to use the TRC?
Yes, a current BPCC ID is required for every visit to the TRC.
What software is available in the TRC?
All computers in the TRC have MS Office 2007 and Internet Explorer 6. The complete software list is available at http://www.bpcc.edu/bpcclibrary/trcsoftware.html.
Can I print from the computers in the TRC?
Yes. Students are allowed twenty (20) free pages per day. No additional pages are available.
WIFI Access
Does the Library have WIFI (Wireless) access?
Library has WIFI access for use with a personal laptop or Library use laptop. Current students and faculty/staff may access the wireless network on a personal laptop using:
User name: first initial of first name, full last name and last three digits of ID number
PIN: Students- birthdate in 6 digit format
Faculty/Staff- Email password
