Academic Advising Center

  Tuesday – Friday: 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

The Academic Advising Center provides students with a wide range of services developed to ensure individual needs of the student are addressed in all aspects of the academic decision-making process. Comprehensive services include academic advising, transcript evaluation, career assessment, and referral to the appropriate college personnel to fully utilize available resources.

Bookstore

Location: Building F, first floor

All New Students Need a BPCC Catalog

With $15.00 application fee, all new students receive a catalog. Additional catalogs may be purchased in the Bookstore for $6.00.

Students may purchase textbooks in the College Bookstore. Textbooks may be purchased during regular and special business hours posted at the Bookstore.

Summer Bookstore hours:
Monday - Friday: 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Refunds:
Refunds on books will be made if a class is canceled, a class is dropped, or a College error is involved in scheduling. Students will receive a 100% refund only if the books are in the same condition as purchased. Receipt is required. Name in the books or other alterations will cause the books to be refunded at 50% used-book prices. Book refunds, issued to students on the deferred payment plan, will be applied to the unpaid balance. No refunds on books for Session A and B after June 9, 2008 and for Session C after July 7, 2008. No refund on books if access code is opened.

Buying Books Back:
The Bookstore buys back selected textbooks. The student is paid one-half the purchase price. Buyback dates are listed in the College Academic Calendar in this bulletin.

Counseling Center

Counseling Center hours:
Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

The Counseling Center provides academic support, career assessment and counseling, as well as personal counseling. The staff strives to make the students their number-one priority. The mission of the Counseling Center is to provide professional counseling services to BPCC students which will assist in their adjustment to college life, intervene and assist in personal crises, and facilitate academic success which in turn translates into positive career and life experiences.

Disability Services

Disability Services coordinates campus-wide efforts to provide services and accommodations for students with disabilities. In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the office ensures that eligible students receive proper classroom modification and serves as a liaison between faculty and students. Medical or psychological documentation is required to recognize a disability. Categories include:

  • Physical impairment
  • Sensory impairment (hearing or vision impaired)
  • Specific learning disability
  • Psychiatric/addictive disorders

To begin services, a registered BPCC student must not only provide the Disability Services with proper documentation, but must request assistance. In order to receive special accommodations for standardized tests (ACT), students must make the request at least two weeks in advance of the test date.

Job Placement Office

Office hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

The Job Placement Office offers assistance with federal work study positions and part-time/full-time employment. In addition, the staff assists students with résumé preparation, cover letter creation, and interview skills.

Kaleidoscope Policy

All students scheduling JRNL 101, 102, 211, or 212 must have taken or be currently enrolled in ENGL 101 or ENGL 102, and Telecommunications 211 (newswriting), or Telecommunications 209 (scriptwriting).
