Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) is participating in a statewide partnership known as CALL (Continuum for All Louisiana Learners). CALL is a joint initiative between the Louisiana Board of Regents,
the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB),
and the Consortium for Education, Research and Technology of North Louisiana
aimed at making it easier for Louisiana adults without a college degree to enroll at a Louisiana public college or university and earn a degree or other college credential.
CALL is supported by grants from the Louisiana Board of Regents and is the first installment in the Louisiana’s Education . . . Go for More Campaign sponsored by The Louisiana Board of Regents. The goal of CALL is to expand adult participation in postsecondary education by:
- better understanding the needs of adult learners in Louisiana
- establishing innovative programming to respond to those needs
- aggressively promoting adult learning services and programming
- creating convenient pathways to postsecondary certificates and degrees.
BPCC was a member of the initial pilot in the northern third of the state, a region with significant adult educational needs which hamper its ability to develop and sustain economic growth. Beginning in Fall 2008, six institutions including BPCC will be offering accelerated, online programs as part of the CALL expansion.
BPCC has developed three fast-track, accelerated Associate degree programs through this partnership. Additionally, BPCC has established and enhanced other mechanisms to assist adults with decreasing the time to degree completion including becoming a testing site for CLEP and DSST, offering the option to gain portfolio credit for certain courses, creating more accessible information on available departmental challenge exams for courses, and providing academic advising for adults to determine how to best use transfer credits. BPCC is accepting applications students to join the fast-track program.
This site is designed to keep members of the BPCC administration, faculty and staff as well as interested colleges, universities, and organizations apprised of developments and project timelines as this initiative progresses.
