How to be a Successful Fast-Track Student

Bossier Parish Community College is committed to helping students have a successful learning experience. Use the following tools to help you identify the chances of having a successful E-Learning experience.

Is online learning for me?

Is my computer ready for online classes?

Online Courses

Students taking online courses will be utilizing BPCC's Blackboard E-Learning Platform. Instructors delivering courses via the Internet will provide their students with an online orientation or a face-to-face orientation session on BPCC's Campus on how to use the Blackboard Platform. Also, the Division of Educational Technology will offer Blackboard orientation sessions the week of registration and the first week of class. (Orientation dates and times.) Students need to be self-motivated with good study and time management skills: they need to be computer literate, be goal oriented, capable of learning on their own through reading, research, and assignments, be able to save and manage files on their computer, know how to send and open e-mail attachments, check e-mail, access the Internet, and participate in their online course at least 3-5 times per week. Some courses require access to certain software programming. This software information can be found in the Academic Bulletin.

First-Time Online Students

Blackboard is the course management system for all BPCC online courses. Blackboard student orientation is REQUIRED for all students taking BPCC online courses for the first time. It's also beneficial if you want to refresh your memory about taking an online course. Blackboard orientation is available online or face-to-face. If you are ready NOW, click on the Take Orientation Now link. If you would like a face-to-face orientation, please contact the Educational Technology Division at 318-678-6023.
