Physical Science (PHSC)
- 105:
- Elemental Physics. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: MATH 098 or ACT math score of 18 or higher.
Introductory physics course, which includes basic concepts in motion, gravitation, energy transformation, heat, waves, sound, light and electricity. Graphic and algebraic solutions
in problem solving are emphasized.
- 105L:
- Elemental Physics Laboratory. (1-0-3)
Prerequisite: Previous credit or current enrollment in PHSC 105.
Laboratory exercises that support and reinforce concepts taught in PHSC 105.
- 106:
- Elemental Chemistry. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: MATH 098 or ACT math score of 16 or higher.
Basic concepts of chemistry including measurement, metric system, atomic structure,
predicting chemical formulas, predicting reactions, writing equations, the mole concept,
stiochiometry, and the behavior of gases.
- 110:
- Astronomy. (3-3-0)
Descriptive introduction to astronomy, including historical perspectives and modern concepts of our solar system, comets, constellations, stars, galaxies, pulsars, black holes, and other bodies.
