ResourcesMain CollectionThe main collection has over 41,000 items that provide both primary and secondary resource materials to support the purposes and programs of the college. Materials may be accessed through BPCC Library’s online catalog. Reference CollectionThe Reference Collection includes basic encyclopedias, dictionaries, and indexes (in print and online format). Vertical FileThe Vertical File Collection which contains pamphlets and materials that supplement the book collection. Audiovisual CollectionThe Audiovisual Collection contains curriculum related audio tapes and CDs, video tapes and DVDs, microforms and photocopy machines. Online CatalogThe online catalog is available via the Internet 24 hours a day. This catalog provides students with quick and easy access to the holdings of the library. The online catalog also offers user services such as placing holds, viewing reserve materials list, and checking personal accounts of books and bills owed. LOUISLouisiana Library Network (www.lsu.edu/ocs/louis/) is a library consortium of Louisiana college, university, and public libraries. LOUIS provides library automation services and licenses full-text electronic resources from over 30,000 journals. Electronic Resources.Students now have easy access to indexes, abstracts and full-text journal articles from over 30,000 titles. Many articles are available in full-text, allowing students to bypass the old method of locating a print version of the journal on the shelf. Online access empowers students with reliable and up-to-date information at their fingertips.

MathSciNetDatabase includes reviews or summaries of mathematical articles from approximately 1,700 current journals and books. Oxford English DictionaryAn internet version of the second edition of the OED, which allows the searching of words, phrases, variants, phonetics, and Greek roots, with filters for date and part of speech. Sanborn Maps-LouisianaMaps provide historical information on growth and development of Louisiana cities, towns, and neighborhoods. Dates of maps are from 1885-1951. Worldcat/First SearchContains millions of bibliographic records of books and other material at libraries worldwide. Interlibrary LoanMaterials needed for research may be requested from other libraries through interlibrary loans. Library InstructionLibrary instructional sessions designed to develop information literacy and competency with the informational resources and services normally found in college libraries are provided by the reference faculty. Reserve MaterialsMaterials on reserve for class assignments are located at the Circulation Desk. These materials are limited to circulation for library use only. All reprinted articles and audiovisual materials must comply with current copyright laws. Technology Resource CenterStudent workers provide aid in use of electronic resources, word processing, and various classroom software on 56 student workstations. Laptop ComputersWireless laptops computers are available for checkout for current BPCC faculty, staff and students. Student access is restricted to in-library use.
