General Science
(option in Allied Health/
Pre-nursing)
Associate of Science

The General Science degree program provides students wishing to pursue careers in allied health fields,
including nursing, radiology, and dental hygiene, with a structured program of pre-clinical course work.
Students may use the foundation provided by this degree to pursue a four-year degree or many enter the
workplace.

Learning Outcomes:

Recipients of the Associate of Science in General Science will have demonstrated

1. effective verbal and written communication to accurately convey scientific information;
2. the ability to critically analyze and interpret data collected in the scientific laboratory and to critically read and interpret scientific literature;
3. academic preparedness in life sciences and physical sciences enabling graduates to apply foundational knowledge to continued education in science and/or allied health and to critically analyze developments in science;
4. utilization of mathematics to collect, analyze and interpret scientific data collected through laboratory investigation and experimentation; and
5. utilization of computer and other technologies in the collection and recording of scientific data.
