Basic Electricity. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite or co-requisite: MATH 102 or MATH 129.
Corequisite: TEED 101L.

Electron theory, basic circuits, cells and batteries, resistance networks, Ohm’s law, Kirchoff’s law, electromagnetism, alternating current, impedance, phase relationships, resonance, transformer, time constant principles and use of measuring instruments.

Prerequisite: Registration in or credit for TEED 101.

102:
Semiconductor Electronics. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: TEED 101.
Corequisite: TEED 102L.

Semiconductor principles, power supplies, audio amplifiers, oscillators, and use of related electronic test equipment.
102L:
Semiconductor Electronics Laboratory . (1-0-3)
Prerequisite: Registration in or credit for TEED 102.
Laboratory to accompany TEED 102.

National Electrical Code I. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: TEED 101.
A course designed for industrial skill trades apprentices. This course is a study of the 2008 National Electrical Code for the practical safeguarding of persons and property from hazards arising from use of electricity.
133:
National Electrical Code II. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: TEED 132.
A continuation of TEED 132 with more topics from the 2008 National Electrical Code.
140:
Engineering Drawing. (1-1-0)
Prerequisite: ACT score of 18 or higher, or grade of "C" or higher in MATH 099, or consent of instructor.
Co-requisite: TEED 140L.

Lettering, use of instruments, sketching, geometric construction, orthographic projection, sectioning, dimensioning, primary auxiliaries, and pictorials.
140L:
Engineering Drawing Laboratory. (2-0-5)
Prerequisite: Registration in TEED 140.
Laboratory to accompany TEED 140.
142:
Industrial Blueprint Reading. (3-3-0)
A course for industrial trade apprentices and drafters needing to be able to read industrial prints. Emphasis is placed on prints as related to an industrial setting symbolism, term notes, material specification and sketching.
143:
Introductory Computer Drafting. (3-1-2)
Prerequisite: MATH 102 or MATH 129 or TEED 140.
A fundamental course in computer-aided drafting. Major topics include starting AutoCAD, working with multiview drawings and editing drawings.
144:
Intermediate Computer Drafting. (3-1-2)
Prerequisite: TEED 143.
A continuation of TEED 143 including AutoCAD applications, auxiliary views, isometrics, dimensioning, sectionals. Blocks and 3D.
145:
Industrial Mechanical Theory I. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: MATH 102 or MATH 129.
A course designed for industrial skilled trades apprentices. Content includes machinery and equipment installation, mechanical power transmission belt, gear, and chain drives, couplings, packs and seals, bearings, mechanical fasteners, pipe fittings, and valves.
146:
Industrial Mechanical Theory II. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite TEED 145.
A continuation of TEED 145, including screw threads, wood fastenings, rigging, pumps, and air compressors.
147:
Machine Shop Theory I. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite MATH 102 or MATH 129, TEED 140, TEED 140L.
Corequisite: TEED 147L

An introductory course in machine tool technology. Major topics include the following: an introduction to machine tools, safety and maintenance procedures, job planning, measurement, layout tools and benchwork, metal cutting technology, metal cutting saws, drilling machines, and machine tool repair.
147L:
Machine Shop Theory I Laboratory. (1-0-3)
Corequisite: TEED 147

A hands-on course to supplement TEED 147 lecture, with emphasis placed on shop safety procedures, use of measuring devices, metal selection, benchwork, drill presses, and student projects.
148:
Machine Shop Theory II. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: TEED 147 and TEED 147L.
Corequisite: TEED 148L.

A continuing introduction to machine shop theory. Major topics include the following: the lathe, milling machines, jig borers, jig grinders, computer age machining, grinding, metallurgy, hydraulics, and special processes. Safety procedures, care and maintenance of machine tools are especially emphasized.
148L:
Machine Shop II Laboratory. (1-0-3)
Corequisite: TEED 148.
A hands-on course to supplement TEED 148 lecture. Safety, care, operation, and maintenance procedures are emphasized in the use of metal lathes and milling machines. Completion of several student projects is required.
149:
Computer Numerical Control (CNC). (3-2-1)
Prerequisite: MATH 102 or MATH 129.
A lecture-demonstration course covering programming and operating computer numerical controlled machine tools such as mills and lathes.
150:
Pneumatics. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: MATH 102 or MATH 129.
A course designed for the industrial skilled trades apprentices requiring a knowledge of air circuitry. Major topics include pressure units, behavior of gases, production mechanics, distribution mechanics, and the preparation, control, and use of air circuits. Emphasis is especially placed on symbolism and design of air circuit systems.
152:
Hydraulics. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: MATH 102 or MATH 129.
A course designed for industrial skilled trades apprentices. Major topics include pressure units applicable to hydraulics systems, Pascal’s Law, transmission of energy in hydraulic systems, mechanical advantage, pumps, motors, accumulators, cylinders, maintenance, safety, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting.
154:
Metallurgy. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: MATH 102 or MATH 129.
This course emphasizes metallurgy theory, compatibility of metals in bond formation, and optimum conditions for maximum bond strength.
155:
Welding. (3-2-2)
Prerequisite: MATH 102 or MATH 129.
The course emphasizes welding theory and is designed to improve welding skills.
156:
Customizing AutoCAD. (3-1-2)
Prerequisite or corequisite: TEED 144.
An advanced course dealing with the following topics: external commands, scripts, slides, and customizing menus. Also, an introduction to AutoLISP program is included.
158:
Computer Drafting Applications. (3-1-2)
Prerequisite: TEED 144.
Project work with lab experience in one of the following drafting areas: architectural, structure, electronics, manufacturing, civil/mapping, or piping.
160:
3D Computer Drafting. (3-1-2)
Prerequisite or corequisite: TEED 144.
An advanced course dealing with solid modeling. This course covers 3D drafting concepts and coordinate systems. Other topics include viewing, editing, dimensioning, and rendering objects.
171:
Building Information Modeling I. (3-1-2)
This course is an overview of BIM concepts and BIM editing tools using BIM software with other applications to prepare construction documents, to integrate annotations into the model, to use worksets, and to collaborate with other design professionals.
172:
Building Information Modeling II. (3-1-2)
Prerequisite : TEED 171.
This course is a continuation of course TEED 171, Building Information Modeling I. The course is an overview of advanced BIM concepts, advanced BIM editing tools and using BIM software with other applications to prepare construction documents, to integrate annotations into the model, to use worksets, and to collaborate with other design professionals.
201:
Basic Digital Electronics. (3-2-1)
Prerequisite: TEED 101.
A course in basic digital circuits with emphasis on logic gates, truth tables, counters, binary code, hexadecimal code, decoder/driver, three-state logic, multivibrators, RAM, ROM, and registers.
202:
Introduction to Microprocessors. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: TEED 102 and TEED 201.
Corequisite: TEED 202L.

An introduction to microprocessors with emphasis on 8-bit processors, processor arithmetic and programming using mnemonics and machine code.
202L:
Introduction to Microprocessor Laboratory. (1-0-3)
Prerequisite: Registration in TEED 202.
Laboratory to accompany TEED 202.
204:
Industrial Instrumentation. (3-1-2)
Prerequisite: MATH 102 or MATH 129 and TEED 201.
An overview of instrumentation used for industrial automation and process control. Includes review of applicable DC and AC circuit theory, digital electronics, and closed-loop/open-loop control fundamentals. Also covers measurement and control of basic process variables such as pressure, level, flow, temperature, humidity, density and viscosity. Control related signal conditioning, signal transmission, programming techniques, actuators, and PID controllers are also included.
206:
Electronics Equipment and Repair. (3-1-2)
Prerequisite: TEED 102.
The use and calibration of electronic test equipment such as analog and digital meters, function generators, oscilloscopes, semi-conduct testers, frequency counters, and other test equipment. General troubleshooting techniques from soldering to repair of printed circuit boards.
208:
Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: TEED 202.
Corequisite: TEED 208L.

An introduction to programmable logic controllers (PLCs) covering topics such as installing, programming and maintaining PLC systems. Lab activities, using Allen-Bradley SLC 500, to provide practical experience with PLCs.
208L:
Programmable Logic Controllers Laboratory. (1-0-3)
Prerequisite: TEED 202 and registration in TEED 208.
A hands-on course to supplement TEED 208 lecture. Lab activities include installing, programming, and maintaining programmable logic controllers in order to provide practical experience.
250:
Refrigeration Fundamentals. (3-2-1)
Prerequisite: MATH 102 or MATH 129.
A basic course in refrigeration. Major areas of emphasis include terminology, system components, functions of components, control systems, dehydration, discharging and charging of systems, installation procedures, safety, and troubleshooting.
252:
Electric Motor Controls. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: TEED 102.
Corequisite: TEED 252L.

Basic theory of operation of electric motors with emphasis placed on tools safety symbolism and line diagrams. AC manual contactors and starters, magnetic solenoids, magnetic motor starters, installation of control devices and maintenance procedures.
252L:
Electric Motor Control Lab. (1-0-3)
Prerequisite: Registration in TEED 252.
Laboratory to accompany TEED 252.
263:
Pipefitting Theory. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: MATH 102 or MATH 129.
This course is related training for apprentice industrial pipefitters. It encompasses a study of tools of the trade, safety procedures, pipe systems and controls, blueprint reading, plumbing code, and the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems.
