Certificate of Technical Studies in Music

Learning Outcomes:

Recipients of the Certificate of Technical Studies in Music will have demonstrated:

  1. comprehension of basic tonal music theory and aural theory skills and concepts;
  2. basic fundamental performance skills on a primary instrument or voice;
  3. comprehension of the basic historical significance and development of Western Art music from the Middle Ages to the present;
  4. basic fundamental performance skills on piano; and
  5. successful communication within the music environment using verbal, written, and basic computer literacy skills.
