- Basic Mathematics. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: No ACT scores or appropriate placement test score.
Review of basic mathematics skills. Includes the fundamental numeral operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; ratio and proportion, percent, systems of measurement, and an introduction to geometry.
NOTE: May not be used to satisfy the math or elective requirement in any curriculum at BPCC.

- Beginning Algebra I. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: Appropriate placement test score or a grade of "C" or higher in MATH 097.
A beginning algebra course that includes performing fundamental operations on real numbers; exponents; solving linear equations and inequalities; applications; functions; graphing linear equations; slope; systems of linear equations.
NOTE: May not be used to satisfy the mathematics or elective requirement in any curriculum at BPCC.

- Beginning Algebra II. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: Appropriate placement test score or a grade of "C" or higher in MATH 098.
A continuation of Beginning Algebra I including exponents and polynomials; factoring polynomials; rational expressions and equations; solving quadratic equations; graphing quadratic functions; roots and radicals.
NOTE: May not be used to satisfy the mathematics or elective requirement in any curriculum at BPCC.

- Applied Algebra for College Students. (3-3-0)
Prerequisites: ACT score of 19 or higher, Math placement score, or grade of “C” or higher in MATH 099. This course is designed only for students who need ONE 3 credit math course to fulfill their BPCC graduation requirement in eligible associate degree programs.
Topics from algebra involving real numbers and their properties, operations of polynomials, solving linear equations and inequalities, solving absolute value equations and inequalities, understanding of radical expressions, operations of complex numbers, solving quadratic equations, solving systems of equations, rectangular coordinate system and graphs , introduction to functions, graph linear equations and inequalities, graph quadratic equations, graph exponential and logarithm functions, and graphing systems of equations and inequalities.

- College Algebra. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: ACT score of 20 or higher, appropriate placement test score, or a grade of "C" or higher in MATH 099.
Topics from algebra including complex numbers; radical and rational equations; linear and quadratic equations and inequalities; absolute value equations and inequalities; lines and slope; graphs; inverse, exponential, and logarithmic functions; systems of equations and inequalities; conics; applications.

- Precalculus. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite : ACT score of 20 or higher, appropriate placement test score, or a grade of "C" or higher in MATH 099.
Thorough study of algebraic and trigonometric concepts required for calculus. Analysis of linear, quadratic, polynomial, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions as they apply to calculus. Other topics in algebra include system of equations and conics. Trigonometric topics include angles, radian measure, right triangle trigonometry, graphs, inverse trigonometric functions, trigonometric equations, verifying identities, and laws of sine and cosine..

- Trigonometry. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: ACT score of 25 or higher, appropriate placement test score, or a grade of "C" or higher in MATH 102.
Methods and theory of trigonometry including trigonometric functions, solution of right triangles, identities and trigonometric equations, graphs, inverse trigonometric functions, solution of oblique triangles, and complex numbers.

- Finite Math. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: A grade of "C" or higher in MATH 102.
A course that contains a wide variety of realistic applications for students majoring in the liberal arts, the social sciences, and business. Topics include the following: linear, quadratic, exponential, and logarithmic functions with applications; mathematics of finance; sets and probability; permutations, combinations and counting; and statistics.

- Elementary Number Structure. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: A grade of “C” or higher in MATH 102.
his course is designed for elementary education majors. The emphasis of the course is teaching number sense and problem solving. Topics include understanding of the base ten numeration system and place value, understanding the meaning of the operations of whole numbers (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) and their properties,
Prime factorization as it relates to GCD and LCM, meaning of fractions and mixed numbers, equivalent fractions, comparison of fractions, operations of fractions, meaning of decimals as it relates to a fraction and place value, operations of decimals, understanding of a ratio and proportion, and meaning of percent as it related to both fractions and decimals.

Prerequisite: A grade of “C” or higher in MATH 102.
A course for the liberal art and education student stressing thinking critically, putting numbers in perspective in the real world, statistical reasoning, putting statistics to work, living with probability and odds, and mathematics in politics and business.

- Applied Technical Mathematics. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: ACT score of 18 or higher, or grade of “C” or higher in MATH 099.
This course covers a practical application of basic math/algebra skills to typical industrial applications and problems. There is an emphasis on units of measure, algebraic expressions, reading tools of measurement, perimeter/area/volume analysis using plane and solid geometry, simultaneous equations, polynomial roots, radicals, trigonometry (right and oblique triangles), graphical analysis and engineering units/notation.

- Elementary Applied Calculus. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: A grade of “C” or higher in MATH 102.
An intuitive approach to calculus: functions, graphing, limits, continuity, differentiation, integration, applications to problems from the fields of business, biological science, social science, and behavioral science.

- Basic Statistics. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: A grade of “C” or higher in MATH 102
A first course in statistics including descriptive statistics; histograms and frequency distributions; measure of central tendency; probability; binomial and normal distribution; sampling distributions; estimation; hypothesis testing; regression and correlation.

- Elementary Geometry. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: A grade of “C” or higher in MATH 117.
This course is designed for elementary education majors. The emphasis of the course is measurement and geometry. Topics include what is measurement, measurements on labels, measurement of length, more about circumference, measurement of weight, measurement of area, measurement of temperature, straightness, flatness, dimension, angles and parallels, sum of measures of angles of a triangle, polygons, centers and lines of symmetry, congruent figures, similarity, area of triangles, area of other figures, the Pythagorean Theorem, surface area, and volume.

- Elementary Statistics. (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: A grade of “C” or higher in MATH 117 and MATH 217.
This course is designed for elementary majors. The emphasis of the course is data collection, probability, and number systems. Topics include collecting a set of data, methods of organizing data, the “center of data,” the “spread” of data, standardized scores, sampling, probability, theoretical vs. experimental probability, conditional probability, counting techniques, counting specific orders, counting different groups, geometric probability, normal distribution, natural numbers and whole numbers, the set of integers, inverses, and rational numbers.

- Calculus I (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: ACT score of 28 or higher, appropriate placement test score, or a grade of “C” or higher in MATH 111, or a grade of “C” or higher in MATH 102 and MATH 112.
Topics include functions; limits and continuity; differentiation; applications of derivatives.

- Calculus II (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: Student must receive a grade of “C” or higher in MATH 250.
Topics include integration; applications of definite integrals; integrals and transcendental functions; and techniques of integration.
- 252
- Calculus III (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: Student must receive a grade of “C” or higher in MATH 251.
Topics include first-order differential equations; infinite sequences and series; parametric equations and polar coordinates; vectors and the geometry of space; and vector-valued functions and motion in space.
- 253
- Calculus IV (3-3-0)
Prerequisite: Student must receive a grade of “C” or higher in MATH 252.
Topics include partial derivatives; multiple integrals; integration in vector fields; and second-order differential equations.
