Prenursing (PNUR)

101: Nursing as a Career. (1-1-0)
Prerequisite; Previous credit for or concurrent enrollment in all qualification courses in the Nursing Program.
The purpose of this course is to facilitate the transition from student to professional nurse. The focus is on the nonclinical aspects of professional nursing, primarily the role of the nurse within the current U.S. healthcare environment. Specific topics include evolution of the professional nurse role; accreditation and funding of healthcare resources; ethical and legal implications of delivery of care; nurse role as a leader, manager, and advocate; challenges within the workplace; impact of technology on healthcare delivery; and the importance of evidence-based practice.
