Grievance Procedure
BPCC will provide “appropriate academic accommodation(s).” If the College can provide the student with an auxiliary aid or accommodation that is equally as effective as the one being requested and less expensive, the College is not required to provide the more expensive auxiliary aid or accommodation.
- Notification in writing should be filed by the complainant to the Disability Services Counselor within ten days after the complainant becomes aware of the alleged violation.
- Investigation of the allegation will be made by the Disability Services Counselor and resolved if possible.
- If the student does not find the proposed settlement satisfactory, he/she may appeal to the Vice Chancellor for Student Services.
- The allegation, having been reviewed by the Vice Chancellor for Student Services, may be upheld and corrective action taken or it may be dismissed as not being in violation of the ADA.
- The College’s grievance procedures should be followed prior to contacting an outside agency.
This policies and procedures manual has been published in compliance with the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) ADA Disability Services Guidelines, The Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
