Text Box:In this area of the Liberal Arts Division, students study Spanish and French.  The courses offered may be required courses or may be used as electives.

 

The division offers courses for students needing one, two, or three semesters of foreign languages whether as required courses or electives. 

The courses offered are as follows:

 

Spanish 101  Beginning Course

Spanish 102  Second Semester

Spanish 201  Third Semester (offered only during the summer)

Spanish 106  For Law Enforcement Personnel

Spanish 105 For the Medical Profession

 

French 101  Beginning Course

French 102  Second Semester

French 201  Third Semester (offered only during the summer)

 

Spanish 101

 

A beginning course for students who have no preparation in Spanish.  A study of the fundamentals of Spanish grammar, with special emphasis given to aural-oral practice in the language.  Grammar, conversation, aural comprehension, and elementary reading selections.

 

Spanish 102

 

A continuation of SPAN 101 with continued emphasis on the aural-oral aspects of the language.  Continuation of elementary reading selections.

 

Spanish 105

 

A beginning course for students who have no preparation in Spanish.  A study of conversational Spanish to prepare medical personnel to conduct conversations.  Special emphasis on Spanish terminology associated with doctors, dentists, and hospitals.

 

Spanish 106

 

A beginning course for students who have no preparation in Spanish.  A study of conversational Spanish to prepare law enforcement personnel to conduct conversations.  Special emphasis on Spanish terminology associated with traffic situations, criminal violations, and law enforcement situations.

 

Spanish 201

 

Continued reading and oral work, vocabulary building, and review of the basic principles of grammar.

 

 

French 101

 

A beginning course for students who have no preparation in French.  A study of the fundamentals of French grammar, with special emphasis given to aural-oral practice in the language.  Grammar, conversation, aural comprehension, and elementary reading selections.

 

French 102

 

A continuation of FREN 101 with continued emphasis on the aural-oral aspects of the language.  Continuation of elementary reading selections.
