How We Serve

Project R.E.A.D.Volunteers, 18 years and older, support non-readers in our program.  Bossier Parish Community College’s Project R.E.A.D. needs volunteers to offer an important community service—reading instruction for adult non-readers.

A 12-hour training session is provided to volunteers interested in teaching adults to read.  After training, the tutors and non-readers meet privately twice weekly in a neighborhood library, church, or other public building.  Tutoring is done on a one-to-one basis using the Laubach method of teaching reading.  Training and materials are furnished free of charge by the College.
