Time to Stand

Sean C. Stephenson shares with his audience moments from his life that are extremely engaging, the greatest being he was predicted not to survive at birth because of a rare bone disorder that stunted his growth, confined him to a wheelchair and caused his bones to be extremely fragile (breaking over 200 times since birth). Sean is called upon as a leading professional speaker, author, and psychotherapist in the college and youth market across the nation. Authoring 3 books by the age of 21 and traveling to 47 states and 5 countries, Sean has been interacting with youth and adult audiences for nearly a decade. Sean's services and expertise have been called upon by associations such as: the Federal Aviation Administration; United States Senate (on two occasions); prisons, hospitals, Fortune 500 corporations; numerous schools, universities, and nationally attended student leadership conferences. Sean's extensive media training and experience began over 15 years ago.

Sean and his expertise has appeared in/on: The Oprah Show; the Discovery Health Channel; CNN News; CBS News; ABC News; C-SPAN; The New York Times and in numerous radio and print media outlets. Sean was trained in project management and conflict resolution during his extended work for the United States House of Representatives on Capital Hill and for the Office of Cabinet Affairs in the White House as a direct Liaison to the President. Sean graduated with High Honors from DePaul University, received his Psychotherapy degrees from Bennett/Stellar University, Board Certification from The American Institute of Hypnotherapy, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Clinical Hypnotherapy from American Pacific University. Sean’s revolutionary psychological methods in raising the self-esteem of our youth caught the attention of The National Association for Self-Esteem, as he is the youngest individual to ever be invited on the Board of Directors.

Over the past decade Sean has found that students are notorious for making excuses, "I would work harder, ‘BUT’ it won’t make a difference" Sean covers more than excuses, he also addresses the ‘BUTS’ that fuel insecurities, "I would love myself BUT, I am not pretty enough, wealthy enough, or popular enough, etc.." Thus Sean has created a movement committed to educating students how to get off their ‘BUTS’ and STAND in life. In Sean's powerful presentation, "Time to Stand!" he outlines where "BUTS" come from, why they control us, and how to get off of them. Audiences are taken on a journey through human potential, using emotional stories from his life - Sean proves we can all triumph with the power of STANDING.

Fall Semester 2005 Distinguished Speaker
Tuesday, November 1, 2005 - 11:00 a.m. - F203 and 7:45 p.m. - D215

Peter BielagusWill open new browser window or tab- Click for more information - Peter G. Bielagus became Young America’s Financial Success Coach™ the hard way-- by first falling deeply into debt. As a B- student entering college, Peter quickly found himself $5,000 in credit card debt his freshman year. Determined to change his life, Peter began reading what amounted to over 300 books on personal finance and human development, interviewing experts, and attending seminars. By graduation, Peter was on the Dean’s list, the Provost’s list, and was debt free. After graduating, Peter went to work for a national financial company and became the top salesperson in his district, in his first year. Peter then opened up his own fee only financial planning firm; one of the few in the country that caters exclusively to young people. Wanting to educate students, parents, and professionals about money, Peter decided to write a personal finance guide, Getting Loaded: A Complete Personal Finance Guide For Students and Young Professionals. The book was published internationally by one of the world’s largest publishers, Penguin Putnam. Because Peter has financially “been there” and “done that”, students easily relate to his talks. Peter travels the country and shares his success secrets in his financial, motivation, and leadership talks. Mixing humor and emotion with real life examples, Peter empowers audiences to make the best of themselves by making the right choices today.
