The Certified Manufacturing Specialist™ Training Program provides workers the training to obtain a job with Louisiana’s manufacturing companies. This course is offered as a non-credit or credit program.

Overview

The industry-based certification curriculum for Certified Manufacturing Specialist™ (CMS) produces skilled employees for manufacturing industries. Skills taught have been derived from typical business requirements for existing manufacturing employees and those entering the workforce.

The CMS curriculum is comprised of five courses:

  • Manufacturing Organizational Principles
  • Manufacturing Workforce Skills
  • Manufacturing Production Requirements
  • Automated Manufacturing Skills
  • Representative Manufacturing Skills

The courses in the Certified Manufacturing Specialist™ program are based on participative learning. The courses provide Progress Checks, Unit Assessments, and skill practice for various units. A written and skill based comprehensive assessment and simulation exercises are provided at the end of the program. Successful completers are awarded an industry-based certification as a Certified Manufacturing Specialist™.

Objectives

This program is designed to enable participants to:

  • Develop an understanding of business principles.
  • Increase personal, interpersonal, and team effectiveness.
  • Develop quality control skills.
  • Develop continuous improvement and problem solving skills.
  • Develop manufacturing skills necessary to perform automated and representative production requirements.
