Workforce Investment Act (W.I.A.)

The Workforce Investment Act (W.I.A.) Program offered at BPCC serves low income students between the ages of 17-21 from Bossier Parish, Bossier City, or Caddo Parish. These students need assistance with completing their education/ training programs, or obtaining or retaining employment. In addition to the LOW INCOME barrier, they must meet at least one other barrier.

This includes:

high school dropout,
high school graduate with a child (male or female), or
pregnant.

Other barriers include a history of substance abuse, homeless, probation, and those who have “aged” out of foster care. Many of our students who have dropped out of high school are considered “basic skills deficient,” and we assist them in completing a G.E.D. program and then continuing education or training.
