The mission of the Bossier Parish Community College Pharmacy Technician program is to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to work as a certified pharmacy technician under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist in various types of pharmacies.
The pharmacy technician works as an assistant to a registered pharmacist, assisting and relieving the pharmacist with routine technical and clerical duties and functioning in strict accordance with standard procedures and policies. The BPCC Pharmacy Technician Program offers both an Associate degree and a Certificate of Technical Studies in Pharmacy Technician. Students are accepted in both the fall (August) and spring (January) semesters. College ready students can complete the Certificate of Technical Studies in three semesters and the Associate of Applied Science in four semesters. Students completing the Certificate level program are eligible to return to BPCC to complete the Associate degree in the future.

The Bossier Parish Community College Pharmacy Technician Program partners with PioneerRx Pharmacy Software. - Students will simulate prescription processing, which includes (but is not limited to):
- Entering new prescriptions
- Verifying patient information; including mediation history, allergies, disease states, and drug interactions
- Entering new patients and providers to a database
- Entering insurance information
- Create labels for filling
- Simulation of adjudication of insurance
