There are five concentrations in the Associate of Applied Science in Communication Media: Mass Communication, Sound and Music Recording, Graphic Design/Computer Animation, Photography, and Multimedia.
Have you dreamed of working in TV? Can you see yourself making your own films? Under the Mass Communication concentration, you can study the areas of film and television. In our TV studio, students produce live and prerecorded weekly programming that airs on Suddenlink Channel 12 (KCAV-TV). In addition to classroom studies, each summer we produce a film for entry into various film festivals. Students get hands-on experience while they learn the movie-making process from pre-production through post-production.
Want to learn how to engineer a recording session? Produce a music CD? Run your own audio recording studio? Has the idea of running live sound for concerts, festivals or churches ever interested you? The Sound and Music concentration at Bossier Parish Community College will do just that. Our faculty and staff are seasoned with real world experience to guide you through learning how to build a sound studio, record music, operate professional sound gear, and much more.
IWant to put your artistic talents to work? Do you thing a career in Graphic Design might be right for you? Have you always wanted to learn about computer animation? In our Graphic Design and Computer Animation concentration, students will gain an understanding of design technique and convention that can be applied in the workforce. Do you love to take photos? Have you ever wondered if you could turn your passion into a profession or just want to take better pictures? The Photography concentration will build your technical skill and provide you with practical experience. You will have the opportunity to define your own path whether its professional career development or personal enrichment.
Want to try it all? The Multimedia concentration allows students with interests in all the areas of the Communication Media program to take a few classes from each to achieve a well-rounded communication education
