BOSSIER CAMPUS CLOSURE NOTICE

UPDATE (10:42am): BPCC Issues Statement Regarding Campus Lockdown

This morning, out of an abundance of caution, Bossier Parish Community College's Bossier Campus was placed on lockdown after law enforcement pursued a suspect who fled onto campus property following an incident off campus.

Campus Police promptly initiated the College’s lockdown procedures, which operated as designed, including automatic door locks and immediate emergency notifications through text, email, social media, and the learning management system.

State and local law enforcement agencies, working in coordination with Campus Police, resolved the situation safely. There is no ongoing threat to the College community.

The campus was subsequently closed for the remainder of the day to ensure the safety and well-being of all students, faculty, and staff. Normal operations will resume on Friday, October 17th.

“The safety of our students, faculty, and staff is always our highest priority,” said Dr. Rick Bateman, Jr., Chancellor of Bossier Parish Community College. “I’m proud of how our campus community responded today—with calm, cooperation, and trust in our safety procedures. I also want to express our deep gratitude to our Campus Police, Louisiana State Police, and local law enforcement for their swift and professional actions that kept our community safe.”

BPCC extends sincere appreciation to the Louisiana State Police, local law enforcement partners, and our Campus Police Department for their coordinated efforts.

For official updates, please refer to the College’s website and verified social media channels. No additional details will be released at this time to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
