BPCC’S DEI COMMITTEE TO HOST INAUGURAL DEI WEEK AT ITS BOSSIER CAMPUS

Events to showcase support services and diversity initiatives, in conjunction with Black History Month

Bossier Parish Community College will host its inaugural DEI Week of events February 26th through March 1st at its Bossier campus, located at 6220 East Texas Street.

DEI Week 2024 aims to bring together students, faculty, and staff to promote the celebration, education, and understanding of the unique identities and experiences present on campus. Throughout the week, there will be intentional programming and activities that educate and encourage the campus community.

Below is a schedule of planned events.

  • Monday, February 26th
    • “The Beauty of Traditional Mexican Folk Dances.”
      • Building F- First Floor, Student Lounge Area from 12:30pm – 1:30pm
      • Open to the Public
  • Tuesday, February 27th
    • Panel Discussion: Creating Educational Pipelines- Improving Outcomes for Men of Color.
      • Building F, Room 203 from 12:30pm – 1:30pm
      • Open to the Public
  • Wednesday, February 28th
    • CAVS Talk: Creating Safe Spaces for the LGBTQIA+ Community.
      • BPCC Theater (Building C) from 12:30pm – 1:30pm
      • Open to the Public
    • HBCU College Fair: 8 Historically Black Colleges & Universities.
      • Building F, 2nd Floor from 10am – 2:30pm
      • Open to the Public
    • Student Government Association (SGA) Black History Month Luncheon.
      • Building F, 1st Floor from 11am – 1pm
      • NOT Open to the Public
  • Thursday, February 29th
    • Cornhole Competition: BPCC Faculty vs. Anime Alchemists- Inclusive Student Organization Activity.
      • BPCC Quad from 10am – 11am
      • Open to the Public
    • Divine 9 Presentation- Presentation and Discussion of Black Greek-Letter Organizations that have made a deep impact on Black American Culture.
      • BPCC Theater (Building C) from 11am – 1pm

  • Friday, March 1st
    • Single Mothers Learners Tea Party- As Women’s History Month begins, we celebrate student parents who balance college and family responsibilities.
      • Building F, Room 203 from 11am – 12:30pm.
      • Open to the Public

All events are open to the community to attend except for the SGA Luncheon on Feb. 28th.
