“Goldi Locks and the Three Heberts”
(Rehearsals begin Thursday, January 15)

The annual original children’s show, Goldi Locks and the Three Heberts, was adapted by Stephen W. Slaughter, the theatre’s founder and namesake. The production will be directed by BPCC Coordinator and Cavalier Players Sponsor, Lari Leber.

This musical fable for children offers a new spin to the traditional Goldilocks fairy tale of the young girl’s encounter with the household of bears whose last name happens to be Hebert (of course, pronounced A-bear).  This version is set in the swamps of Louisiana and features a host of Cajun animals and characters who present the story of Goldi Locks, a young girl who locks every door in sight as a safety precaution.

Cast availability during school day mornings (7:30 – 10:00 a.m.) during the run of the show is required for casting in the show.

A Year with Frog and Toad
(Rehearsals begin March 18)

This Broadway musical fantasy was adapted from the books and stories of Arnold Lobel, with book and lyrics by Willie Reale and Music by Robert Reale.   Dr. Ray Scott Crawford, Program Director of Performing Arts, will direct and music direct this whimsical Tony Award-winning musical.

A Year with Frog and Toad follows Lobel’s delightful characters, the cheerful, popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad, as they journey through four, fun-filled seasons.  The two best friends celebrate and rejoice in their differences that make them unique and special.  According to Music Theatre International, it is “part vaudeville, part make believe, and all charm, with a jazzy, upbeat musical score.   A Year with Frog and Toad bubbles with melody and wit, making it an inventive, exuberant, and enchanting musical for the entire family.”

Public Performances for “Goldi Locks and the Three Heberts” are scheduled for February 6 – 18; Fridays at 7:00 p.m., Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m.

Public Performances for A Year with Frog and Toad are April 17 – 26; Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 2:00 and 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2:00 p.m.
