This summer, Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) will transform curiosity into discovery as middle school students step into the world of healthcare through the MedQuest Summer Healthcare Camp.
Designed for incoming eighth-grade students, the weeklong camp offers an engaging, hands-on introduction to healthcare careers, where students won’t just learn about medicine—they’ll experience it. Through interactive sessions and real-world demonstrations, participants will explore how the human body works and how healthcare professionals care for it every day. Camp sessions will be held July 13–17 and July 20–24 at BPCC’s Bossier Campus, 6220 E. Texas St., Building B, in Bossier City.
Each day of MedQuest focuses on a different system of the body, pairing science with career exploration. Students will dive into topics such as lung function and breathing, heart health, blood and laboratory science, brain and mental health, and bones and nutrition. These sessions are led by regional healthcare partners, including CHRISTUS Health, Willis Knighton Health, Delta Pathology, Brentwood Hospital and Ochsner LSU Health, giving participants the opportunity to interact directly with professionals in the field. Throughout the week, students will engage in activities that connect classroom concepts to real healthcare practices, offering a glimpse into careers such as respiratory therapy, cardiology, laboratory science, mental health services and nutrition.
The experience is designed to build confidence, spark interest and introduce students to pathways in one of the nation’s most in-demand industries. Space is limited, and advance registration is required. Participants can register online.
