Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) is the host site for the Region III Science Olympiad (SO) competition that is held annually. Unfortunately, this year’s competition has been cancelled. The good news is registration is open for the state competition. If interested, please register your team by Friday, January 29, 2021.
If you are unfamiliar with the SO, these tournaments are rigorous academic, interscholastic competitions that consist of a series of team events, for which students prepare during the school year. These challenging and motivational events are well-balanced between the scientific disciplines of biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, and technology.
A workshop for new coaches is held annually. Once that date is published, we will update the information here (for more information, contact the State SO Director Bruce Sherman at firstname.lastname@example.org).
For questions regarding forming a Science Olympiad team and the challenge events, visit the national SO website (see address below). Coaches should review the Louisiana State SO Regional Competition Policies (see the state website below).
Please forward this letter to any teachers who might enjoy participating. If you would like to participate, please first register as described below. Further information, rules, forms, etc. can be found at the following websites:
Teams who wish to register for the state competition, please go to the site listed above for Louisiana State SO and complete the registration. The fee for the state event is $80. Submission of registration must be completed by Friday, January 29, 2021.
State competition is scheduled for April 17, 2021.
If you have any registration questions or scientific event questions, contact Cammie Emory, Professor for Science, Nursing, and Allied Health, at email@example.com or 318-678-6124.
