Academic Advising

Please review the following information prior to coming to the campus. If you have exhibited respiratory symptoms such as a cough, difficulty breathing, or fever within the last twenty-hours please cancel your appointment.  An advisor will be happy to meet with you by phone or video.

Prior to your appointment you will receive an email from advising@bpcc.edu with your appointment advisor’s name and advising location.

If you do not receive a notification please email advising@bpcc.edu with your first and last names, appointment date, and time. 

  • Please arrive five to ten minutes early for your advising appointment.   
  • Only the student being advised is allowed into the advising room.  Please do not bring guests to your advising session.  Parents will be asked to remain in the lobby.
  • Students within the same family or household will need to schedule separate advising sessions.
  • You will be required to wear a face mask while on campus and during your advising session that covers your nose and mouth.
  • The advisor will maintain a safe distance from advisees during the session.

If you need to cancel your appointment at any time, you can do so by texting "C" to 775-204-0124 from the phone number that you used to make your appointment.

Please review the following information prior to your video appointment.

  1. Download Microsoft Teams to your device prior to your appointment.  
    1. Download Microsoft Teams on any Device
    2. You may use your personal email account to setup your Microsoft Teams account.
    3. If you already have Microsoft Teams, there is no need to create a new one.
  2. Make sure your microphone and camera are setup and you have reliable internet. 
  3. The advisor assigned to your appointment will email you a personal meeting link prior to your appointment. 
  4. Five minutes prior to your appointment, open the appointment email from your advisor and click “Join Microsoft Teams Meeting.”  
  5. Please wait for the advisor to admit you. Please be patient, the advisor may be ending an appointment with another student.
  6. If the advisor is unable to connect with you through Microsoft Teams, they will call you on the telephone number provided on your appointment reservation.
  7. If you are not contacted for your scheduled video appointment please email advising@bpcc.edu, provide your first and last name, date and time of scheduled video appointment and noting you were not contacted. The assigned advisor will be notified to contact you ASAP.

Please review the following information prior to your phone appointment.

  • An advisor will call you on the telephone number you provide on your appointment reservation.
  • When your assigned appointment advisor calls, their number may appear as “The State of Louisiana”, 318-678-6000, unknown, or a private number on your caller id.
  • Please remove any call blocks or SPAM restrictions to allow for the call.
  • If you are not contacted for your scheduled phone appointment please email advising@bpcc.edu, provide your first and last name, date and time of schedule appointment and noting you were not contacted. The assigned advisor will be notified to contact you ASAP. 

Academic advising is an important part of achieving college success. Your academic advisor can help you choose a career path, set academic goals and develop long-term educational plans. An advisor can also show you how to utilize campus resources and refer you to helpful academic support services.
