Placement Testing
To ensure course placement leads to students’ academic success, BPCC has developed policies and procedures for placement in college-level coursework, and, in following best practices, has designed a multiple measures approach. The following measures will be used as enrollment guides and thresholds:
- A questionnaire administered as an initial assessment of preparation
- An unweighted high school GPA of 2.6, with a high school completion date of no later than four years prior
- ACT or SAT scores
- Credit by Exam—Depending upon which program the student is studying, either a Reading, English, or Math departmental exam may be taken
Students who graduated from high school more than three years ago, have not completed their last math and English class within the past calendar year, and who do not meet the GPA, ACT/SAT, or Credit by Exam will be required to complete a departmental exam as the first recommendation for assessment.
If you want to complete a departmental exam for English and Reading, please send your name, student ID number (L number), and BPCC email address* to liberalarts@bpcc.edu.
If you want to complete a departmental exam for Math, please send your name, student ID number (L number), and BPCC email address* to math@bpcc.edu.
*Student email will not be available until 24 hours after enrollment in class.
