Release date: January 28, 2019

The Bossier Parish Community College Theatre Program and the Cavalier Players encourage local actors to audition for the next show in their 2018-2019 season, A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Auditions are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on February 11 and 12 in the front lobby of the Stephen W. Slaughter Theatre in Building C, on the BPCC campus, 6220 East Texas Street, Bossier City.

BPCC Theatre’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream is directed by Dr. Ray Scott Crawford, dean of Communication and Performing Arts. Actors should bring a headshot and resume, if available, though not required. It is recommended that actors arrive at least 15 minutes early to auditions to complete an audition form.

Synopsis: Shakespeare’s comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream tells the complicated love story of Hemia, Lysander, Demetrius and Helena that is further complicated by Oberon and Titania, King and Queen of Fairies, and a group of craftsman rehearsing a play where the lovers have escaped.

Add in the mischievous Puck amidst the fairy scheme and anything is possible to go awry – including turning a man into a donkey. In the midst of the chaos, the characters wake up in the forest wishing the night’s events had not taken place. Did the events take place? Or was it all a dream?

For teenage and older audiences.

There are an abundance of characters to be cast. Community members will be considered. Those wishing to audition should come prepared to read from the script. BPCC Theatre students are required to present a 30 second monologue. However, no prepared monologues are required of other students or community members auditioning.  Also, those auditioning should dress comfortably and be prepared to “move about.”

Show dates for A Midsummer Night’s Dream are set for April 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13 at 7:30 p.m., April 7 and 14 at 2:00 p.m.
