Academic Advising During COVID-19

I am a first time college student and need to connect with an academic advisor.

All academic advising sessions will be conducted virtually by video conference or telephone. Advising sessions are available Monday- Friday from 8:30 am- 4:00 pm.  Meetings will be limited to 30 minutes per session. Weekend advising is not available.   Please allow up to 24 to 48 business hours for an advisor to contact you. 

Due to the campus closure in response to COVID-19 , all academic advising will be offered virtually until further notice.

I am a continuing, returning, transfer, or visiting student and need assistance.

What if I need to change my scheduled advising session?

Please email the advisor who scheduled your appointment to reschedule.

I would prefer to meet face to face with an advisor, can I come to the campus?

Bossier Parish Community College is currently closed to the public in order to minimize the spread of COVID-19.   All interactions with BPCC faculty and staff will be conducted virtually until further notice. Students will be notified when normal operations resume.

How will a phone advising session work with an advisor?

Students will provide a working telephone for an advisor to call them on at the scheduled time.  Please note, the advisor’s number may show as private or unknown on your caller id.

How will a video conference session work with an advisor? 

An advisor will send you a Zoom meeting invitation prior to your appointment.

What if I need more than 30 minutes to speak with an advisor?

You may schedule a follow-up appointment with the same advisor for a future day. 

What if I enter the Zoom meeting and my advisor isn’t there?

Your advisor may be finishing up from another student.  Please stay in your virtual Zoom meeting room until your Advisor arrives.

I recently completed an online financial aid appeal through dynamic forms, can you please provide me with an APLAN (Academic Plan)?

Our advising team receives notification when a student submits an electronic financial appeal.  The APLAN is normally sent to financial aid the same day the appeal is submitted.  Please allow 24 to 48 business hours for weekend submissions.  

I have a copy of my degree plan, can I self-register for classes?

Yes, you can register for classes through your LOLA account.  Please visit https://www.bpcc.edu/pdfs/registration/documents/referenceguide-lola.pdfPDF File for help with self registration.

I need to DROP a class from my schedule. 

Please visit https://www.bpcc.edu/index.php/admissions-forms/ scroll down to other forms.  Once there scroll down to “Other Forms” and select “Student Withdrawal Form”.
