THE BPCC THEATRE PROGRAM AND THE CAVALIER PLAYERS PRESENT A SPECIAL COMMAND PERFORMANCE OF URINETOWN (THE MUSICAL) BEFORE PRESENTING AT THE TEXAS STATE KENNEDY CENTER AMERICAN COLLEGE THEATRE FESTIVAL

The Bossier Parish Community College Theatre Program and the Cavalier Players announce a special command performance at BPCC of Urinetown (The Musical) before taking the show to the Texas State Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.

The special command performance is set for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5 in the Stephen W. Slaughter Theatre in Building C on the BPCC campus, 6220 East Texas Street, Bossier City, LA.

Admission is free to the public. However, donations to help fund the BPCC Theatre program’s presence at the competition are welcome.

Dean of Communication and Performing Arts, Dr. Ray Scott Crawford, directed the Cavalier Player’s production of Urinetown (The Musical). In a futuristic town, a 20-year drought has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity’s most basic needs. If the poor don’t obey the strict laws prohibiting free urination, they’ll be sent to the dreaded and mysterious “Urinetown.”

Believe it or not, this show is a comedy. The town revolts against the practice in a musical that spoofs business and politics as well as musical comedy – and musical drama.

The KCACTF encourages, recognizes, and celebrates the finest and most diverse work produced in university and college theatre programs across the country. The BPCC Theatre will pack up and load in Urinetown at Panola College on Friday, Nov. 8 to compete in the KCACTF Texas State Competition.

The production is recommended for teenage and older audiences. For more information, contact Kim Condon at 318-678-6525 or by email at kcondon@bpcc.edu.
