History of Alpha Eta
In 1973, the development of a national honor society for allied health students was proposed to recognize scholarship in allied health students. The honor society was modeled after the University of Florida’s local honor society, Eta Rho Phi. On August 31, 1973, a draft of bylaws, modeled after the University of Florida’s bylaws, was approved and the honor society was created and named for the Greek letters equivalent to the first letters of
Allied Health, which are Alpha Eta.
The purpose of the society shall be the promotion and recognition of significant scholarship, leadership, and contributions to the allied health professions.
