Faculty and Staff:
BPCC is working through details as we plan for employees’ phased return to campus in the weeks ahead. Before doing so, appropriate safeguards and health measures will be implemented to ensure the health and welfare of our personnel, which remains our highest priority.
As you know, yesterday, Governor Edwards issued a statement ending the stay-at-home order effective May 15th. Beginning May 16th, the state will move into Phase 1 of the Open Safely LA plan. Attached is a link to Phase 1 of a return to campus plan based on the state and federal guidelines for reopening. According to the State Fire Marshall, national guidelines, and the Open Safely LA plan, colleges and universities are not allowed to reopen in Phase 1 and must maintain protocols established during the stay at home order (referred to as Phase 0 in the state plan).
In preparation for future phases, the Physical Plant and Janitorial Staffs continue to conduct thorough cleaning and sanitization throughout the campus. Additionally, our Purchasing Department is working to secure hand sanitizer, disinfectant spray and wipes, and personal protective gear for all employees to use while at work. As more information becomes available, I will continue to update you on plans for the phased return of personnel to campus. Thanks for your patience and cooperation.
