About the Learning Commons:

The BPCC Library/Learning Commons in located in Building A. The library owns over 45,000 items, including books, magazines, DVDs and Blu-Ray’s, as well as a growing digital collection. Our electronic resources include indexes and databases which contain numerous newspaper and journal articles. The BPCC Library is a member of the LOUIS consortium.

Computers in the Learning Commons allow access to the internet and various course-related software. Research assistance is available from professional librarians and staff members. Library instruction classes are offered for all courses.

First Floor:

The first floor of the Learning Commons contains areas for collaborative study. It is a space in which students may collaborate on projects or help each other study. Conversation is expected, but students are to keep noise levels to a minimum.

Second Floor

The second floor of the Learning Commons is designated as a Quiet Study Area. It is meant to give students a place to concentrate without noisy distractions. Loud talking is prohibited in these areas. Anyone making noise may be asked to leave.

Study Rooms

The Learning Commons offers six Group Study Rooms (three on the second floor and three in the Tutoring Center). These rooms are equipped with a large study table, computer and a TV/DVD or TV/VCR and are available by reservation only. Study Rooms may be reserved online up to 30 days in advance. Students must present IDs at the Circulation or Reserve desk before using the Study Rooms.

Food, drink, and use of cell phones are prohibited in all public areas of the Learning Commons.
