Steps to Apply and Register for Non-credit Workforce Courses
*Registration is open until classes begin or the classes fills.
1. Complete the BPCC Non-credit Application for the semester in which the class will occur
** Be sure to complete the section regarding immunization and if applicable, Selective Service

2. Check email for acceptance notification with LOLA credentials (could take up to 24 hours)
*Step 3 can be skipped if you already have LOLA credentials
3. Setup Student Account in LOLA, click here and follow directions below
- Input your User Name provided in acceptance email
- Under Help Section, click on I don’t know my password
- Select Verify Personal Information, enter information and select Next
- Follow instructions to create a new password and select Next
- Once password is successfully created, you can log in to LoLA
4. Register for Class in LOLA by following the directions below
- Log into LoLA
- Click on Student in the Self Service Banner section
- Click on Registration in the Academic Links section
- Click on Register for Classes in the Registration section
- Select a term for the Terms Open for Registration drop down menu, then click on Continue
- Under the Find Classes tab, in Subject select Professional Development from the drop down menu and click on Search
- Click on Add to select the course. You will see the courses you have selected in the schedule preview
- Click on Submit to register for the class and add it to your schedule
- If you would like to remove a class, select Remove from the Action drop down menu and click on Submit
5. Pay for Class, options and instructions below
- Credit Card (convenience charge applies - set by the credit card processor)
- Go to Self Service,
- Select Student
- Go to My Account
- Select Account Summary to review tuition and fee information
- When you are ready to make a payment click Payment/Payment Plan Processing
- To Make a Payment, click Make a Payment and follow the instructions
- Cash, Check or Money Order
- Must be paid in person on campus at Workforce Solutions Office or Business Office
- Check must include student name and name of class
- Service charge of $25 on all returned check
Fees may be paid by cash, check, or credit card. Service charge on checks returned by a bank is $25.
Ninety percent (90%) refunds are granted if requests are made three working days prior to the start of the class. Sorry, refunds cannot be made after the class begins. Full refunds are granted when classes are canceled by the Continuing Education Division.
Supply lists are given at registration or on the first night of class. In some cases, supplies will be purchased from the instructor or included in the registration fee.
Books are usually available at the college bookstore. Check the schedule to find out if books are required for your class. Instructors occasionally suggest supplies or books not noted on the schedule or included in the registration fee.
A class may be canceled if minimum enrollment is not met. Every effort is made to notify students when a class is canceled. A full refund is automatically processed and students usually receive a refund check within four weeks.
Once a course begins and a postponement is necessary, the instructor will call the students and reschedule the class, unless weather is the cause. If BPCC classes are canceled because of hazardous weather, Continuing Education classes will not meet. If the class is short-term, we will reschedule. If it is long-term, the instructor will make arrangements to make up the missed information.

The Louisiana Contractors Accreditation Institute, a partnership between Louisiana Economic Development, Louisiana Community & Technical College System and the Louisiana State Licensing Board of Contractors offer small and emerging construction businesses critical information about construction management and how to prepare for the Business Law parts of the contractors state licensing exam.
The program is a partnership between Louisiana Economic Development, Louisiana Community & Technical College System and the Louisiana State licensing Board for Contractors. Courses are available at participating LCTCS colleges across the state.

Get the training you need to become a licensed real estate professional! This Louisiana Real Estate Commission-approved course prepares individuals pursuing a career in real estate for the Louisiana State licensing exam and satisfies the 90-hour education requirement to sit for the exam. It covers principles and practices of real estate, the Louisiana Real Estate License Law, the Law of Agency, Commission Rules and Regulations, and Civil Law as it pertains to real estate in Louisiana. Textbook and/or supplies required.

Our National Restaurant Association-approved Food Safety Certification course provides the preparation and exam for the State Food Safety Certificate with ServSafe® Manager Certification.
ServSafe® is a national certification program of the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. Instruction focuses on food handling techniques, preventing food-borne illnesses, maintaining sanitary facilities and equipment, reducing liability, and training and supervising employees in safe food handling.
At the end of the class, participants take the ServSafe® Manager Examination. With a passing grade of 75% or greater, participants will receive a certificate verifying completion of the program and the ServSafe® Manager Certification. The answer sheet needed for the exam is found in the required textbook so students will need a new book.

The Certified Nurse Assistant program prepares one to work with long-term care patients, such as those in nursing homes and home health care. Instruction includes medical terminology, health care safety, patient care lecture, patient care studies, practice lab situations, and on-site clinical.
APPLICANTS ARE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS IN PERSON:
1. GED/HiSET Certificate, TABE test, High School Diploma or Official Transcript (Originals)

- A Criminal Background Check is REQUIRED and must be completed by BPCC Workforce Solutions department prior to attending the course. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Background Authorization Forms must be submitted to BPCC Workforce Solutions Office when registering for program.
- Background check results could take 3-4 days.
3. Proof of Current Health Insurance Coverage

To successfully complete the program and be recognized as a Certified Nurse Assistant in Louisiana, the student must complete all coursework with a grade C or better and score at least 70% on the final exam to successfully complete the program. They must also pass the written and clinical skills portion on the state test.

Bossier Parish Community College Workforce Solutions and Continuing Education Department offers grant writing and management services for Louisiana’s Incumbent Worker Training Program.
The Incumbent Worker Training Program (IWTP) provides qualifying employers with grant funding to train their workforce. It is a partnership between the Louisiana Workforce Commission, business and industry, and training providers. IWTP benefits business and industry by assisting in the skill development of existing employees and thereby increasing employee productivity and growth of the company.
To date our program has managed $23.6 million in funding. This funding comes from the interest earned on overpayment of federal unemployment insurance and is returned to the employers who pay into the system.
Improvements through training result in:
- The creation of new jobs,
- The retention of jobs that otherwise may have been eliminated, and
- An increase in wages for trained employees.
Who is eligible for IWTP Funds?
- Any business who has operated in Louisiana AND contributed to the state’s Unemployment Insurance System for at least 3 years
- Employers with at least 15 employees to be trained OR could join with other employees in a consortium for similar training
- Employers who exhibit a long-range commitment to employee training

To teach a Workforce Development and Continuing Education course, you must be a dynamic trainer/presenter and an expert in the area you will teach. Please be prepared to provide supporting documentation of your expertise such as a resume, course outline and curriculum.
Our goal for Workforce Development and Continuing Education is to expand learning opportunities for the community. We frequently analyze courses offered to determine community demand. Each semester current courses and new course proposals will be considered based on the determined demand, resources and classroom space available.
