Mission Statement:

The mission of the Bossier Parish Community College Learning Commons (LC) is to develop collections and services that support the Bossier Parish Community College mission. We provide the students, faculty, and staff with a caring learning environment with innovative and accessible resources and services that encourage and support educational goals to help build a community of engaged citizens.

The Collection:

The Learning Commons consists of the Library and Tutoring Center and is located in Building A. The Learning Commons currently houses over 90,000 cataloged items available for users to check out: books, textbooks, e-books, scientific and anatomical models, study materials, and audiovisual materials. The Learning Commons also provides access to approximately 100 databases which contain millions of scholarly sources. The Learning Commons is a member of the LOUIS consortium. Computers in the Learning Commons allow access to the internet and various course-related software. Research assistance is available from professional librarians and staff members. Library instruction classes are offered for all courses. Directions to campus and to the library.

The Learning Commons offers three Group Study Rooms on the second floor and in the Tutoring Center. These rooms are equipped with a study table, computer and a TV/DVD or TV/VCR and are available by reservation online or by phone. Students must check in at the Circulation or Reserve desk before using the Study Rooms.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is essentially lending between libraries. For library users, it equates to access to material at other libraries without visiting those libraries. ILL is available for BPCC faculty, staff and students. ILL request can be made only for items the Learning Commons does not own. To send a request, complete and submit the form below or contact us at 318-678-6042.
